This two day workshop is led by Broadway Veteran/Director of the Musical Theatre Program at Shenandoah Conservatory, Kevin Covert and Choreographer/Owner of WABI theatre and dance, Caroline Younger. Guest Teachers from NC TBA.

This workshop is tailored for teenagers pursuing Musical Theatre that plan on auditioning for College Musical Theatre Programs and pursuing Musical Theatre professionally. This workshop is to help the students gain skills and insight into what they need as preparation for not just college auditions but auditions for local and professional productions. All dance classes are geared towards the singer/actor. The goal is to help the student balance and strengthen all three skills for Musical Theatre, Acting, Singing and Dance as well as instill confidence in auditioning and give them resources and information for their future college auditions.

Dance Classes will cover Ballet, Modern, Theatre Dance and Tap. The Song Interpretation classes cover acting the song and how to work with cutting your music, auditioning with live pianists and choosing your material. The Acting Classes will work on monologues, choosing contrasting pieces and bringing your truth into your material. The workshop ends with a QandA for both parents and students to answer all questions and concerns regarding pursuing the performing arts and auditioning for colleges.

Saturday, August 6 from 12-6 and Sunday August 7 from 10-6 at Open Door Studios, 3706 Central Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28205. $400 for the full weekend of classes. The students will need all dance shoes, two 32 bar cuts of two contrasting songs, one one minute monologue and their picture and resume.
